elenaWell, my life has just changed for ever. It is a decision that took a lot of time and thought, a lot of effort and even a lot of money. And this is just the beginning!

At 9:40PM, on June the 13th, Eléna Langbridge was born, and I officially became a father. I can't really express the feeling you get from witnessing that, it is just amazing. Nothing really prepared me for that, but there were a few heart warming moments. One of the best was when I heard her heart beating, and the few images I saw on the medical scanner. She was tiny, just a few centimetres long, and weighing only a few grams. Well, that changed quick enough; she weighed 3.760Kg at birth, 54cm, and she is only getting bigger! Now I need to put her through some training; she'll become a geek!

So, what really changes? Everything, really. I no longer have the same sense of priorities; work is always extremely important, but I won't hesitate to run back home if there is a problem, and my employer is fine with that. She's still fragile, and so is her mother! It will take some time. What else changes? My level of sleep. Before, I was unhappy at the prospect of a night lasting more than 7 hours, now, I'm happy to get 3 hours straight.

I used to be terrified of babies, and I'll admit that the very first day at the maternity ward, I was. It took about 10 minutes for me to change her, I mean, just look at those fingers! If I even just touch them they'll break! Well, no, they won't. Believe me. I can change her in about 3 minutes flat. Today, I have no problem whatsoever of taking her around with me if I go shopping, and it is strange to see the expression on other people's faces. Wow, like, a guy, wearing a suit, walking around on the tram, laptop in one hand, and baby in another?!

But anyway, that is what has changed in my life, and one of the reasons why I haven't been around too much lately. A lot to do! Now, I need some holidays, and I need to take my little family to Singapore to show them where I was born! First things first... Identity card and passports; she will be both French and British.
